Double treat–This is the second post. Refer to last post to start off

Hey Guys. I’m back after like 30 miliseconds that it took to publish the last post. Today’s special feature is a picture by picture instruction guide on how to cook my mom’s SUPER SIMPLE and SUPER delicious salmon. It truly is the easiest thing she makes and tastes SO FREAKING good. So here we go:

Step 1:

Step 1 Rub minced garlic into pieces of salmon. Just rub it in. Get your hands all sticky with the salmon juice and run with it. And by “run with it”, I mean flick the fillet pieces over and rub the minced garlic into the other side.

Step 2:

Step 2 Sprinkle the salmon fillets with Cajun Seasoning. Now today my mom ran out of that and sprinkled red chilli powder saying ‘you can’t really go wrong with chilli powder’. And she was right of course—it was still delicious. But the better and more authentic recipe involves cajun seasoning on both sides of the fillet.

Step 3:

Step 3 Sprinkle on some Montreal Steak Seasoning. This is the last step of the prep process. Just make sure all of the spices are evenly distributed and on both sides. This may involve giving the salmon a REAL GOOD RUBBIN’. Show it some love because I have doubt you’ll have a mouthgasm eating this.

Step 4:

Step 4 This involves grilling/frying the fish. Truth be told there is not a lot of oil to be used in the skillet. There’ s enough to coat the bottom of the skillet and no additional oil is added to cook the rest of the salmon. Cook the salmon until both sides of the salmon are crusted brown (this means that the spices and the garlic will form a brownish crust on the salmon). I’d recommend opening up windows and turning on exhaust fans at this point because the garlic does burn a little in the frying process.

Now here’s the sad part–I do not have a picture of the finished product. It all got eaten so fast (cue my brother and his friend) and I didn’t have time for a finished product. My mom makes this often enough that I’m sure a picture will be made soon available.  But for now you’ll have to imagine what cooked salmon looks like. If it’s really really hard, go to google images and type in “cooked salmon”. Then  you should have a pretty good idea of what into my belly.

You could pair this salmon with some rice and asparagus (salmon+asparagus=smelly pee+love+happiness).

Personally today I added sweet potato fries :

img_1658 Spray the fries with pam. Then just dust some cumin, red chill powder, salt, black pepper and cumin on the fries. Bake at 400 degrees for about 20 minutes each side. And you’re golden.

I also wanted to show you why I am such a foodie. I have a mother who cooks AMAZINGLY WELL and has a spice cabinet that looks like this:

Ami's Spice Cabinet No lie, this is about 2-3 rows deep. Every kind of spice from every type of cultural background used in almost every type of cuisine. And this is just spices. Not even herbs, sauces or oils. I am a lucky lucky lady.

That’s it for tonight folks. Goodnight!

  1. What a great recipe for salmon… I will give that a try! And those sweet potato fries look so good. Do you buy them frozen?

    • You should give that recipe a try!! I do not buy the sweet potato fries frozen. I just bought 2 regular side sweet potatos and cut each one in 1/2, then 1/4, then 1/8 etc. until I have fries that look like that. Spray a little pam, add spices and voila. You’re ready to cook!

  2. Salmon is THE BEST! I made it the other night and covered it in a plain yogurt+dijon mustard+honey+S&P sauce, then sprinkled it with “Omega 3 crunch” which is basically flax roasted in maple syrup and baked it in the oven and OH.MY.GOD! I made two peices and used the second peice in a salad the next day. HOLY MOTHER!!!!!!!! I’m filing that one for another day!

    I have a zillion spices too 😉

  3. salmon looks DELISH!

I’ve been looking for sweet potato fries recipe, this one looks perfect!!!
